Dynamic Spectrum Leasing
Satellite services are typically provided via static leased spectrum allocations delivering 24/7 connectivity. Most IoT applications do not require ‘always on’ connections, and in fact, many use cases only require a few minutes of connectivity each day. The high cost of static spectrum leases makes them unsuitable for all but the most critical IoT applications. RBC Signals, with Inmarsat, is launching an innovative new capability where spectrum leases are offered in increments as small as a few minutes per day. These dynamic spectrum leases can be switched on and off multiple times a day to provide the exact timing required by the customer. RBC Signals is the first company in the world to demonstrate dynamic leasing capability with Inmarsat satellites in-the-loop.
Fractional Channel Leasing
Spectrum leases are typically provided in blocks called channels (e.g., 200kHz). Most IoT applications do not require a full channel, with many use cases requiring as little as 5 kHz. The high cost of full-channel satellite leases makes them unsuitable for all but the most critical IoT applications. RBC Signals’ broad and diverse customer base allows us to aggregate customers with smaller bandwidth needs onto standard channels. In this way, customers can lease the exact amount of spectrum they need, at a fraction of the cost of a full channel.
Dynamic Spectrum Commerce Platform
RBC Signals' Dynamic Spectrum Commerce (DSC) platform facilitates spectrum sharing between different satellite and terrestrial networks. The platform brings simplicity to the complicated world of spectrum leases, allowing our partners to focus on delivering value to their customers.
