At RBC Signals, we recently held an all-company meeting which included reflecting on our mission statement:
“RBC Signals improves life for humankind by providing affordable, flexible, and reliable access to space spectrum and data services.”
At first glance, this mission may seem straightforward, but its scope is vast. Our goal is to improve life for humankind—not just on Earth, but wherever humanity ventures, from low Earth orbit to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.
In today’s world, connectivity is essential. It enables us to communicate with family, friends, and colleagues, no matter the distance. As we expand into space, the need for reliable communication grows. But connectivity isn’t just about talking—it’s also about exchanging data. Data fuels collaboration, innovation, and commerce. For any new frontier to be sustainable, it must support an economy, and space is no exception.
Our mission emphasizes three key values: affordability, flexibility, and reliability—all essential for building scalable and resilient space connectivity.
- Affordability opens the door to more users and applications in space. Just as cost reductions in satellite manufacturing and launch have democratized access to space, lowering communication costs enables startups, emerging nations, and established space powers to explore new opportunities.
- Flexibility is crucial in an evolving space economy. With initiatives spanning different orbits, data rates, and distances, a “one-size-fits-all” approach simply won’t work. RBC Signals is committed to adapting to the changing needs of the industry.
- Reliability ensures lasting exploration and security. Whether for health, safety, or national defense, space connectivity must be dependable. A strong, resilient infrastructure will be the backbone of our future in space.
At RBC Signals, we are dedicated to delivering affordable, flexible, and reliable space connectivity. The journey so far has been incredible, and the future looks even brighter. By staying focused on our mission, we are helping to shape a thriving and sustainable presence in space.
